The stars have watched humanity disappear.
They saw ancient cities rise.
They saw empires collapse.
They watched lovers promise forever
beneath the same sky.
They watched those promises break.
And still,
they kept shining.
Perhaps that is what
I admire about them.
They do not demand permanence.
They simply exist beautifully
while everything below them changes.
People leave.
Buildings fall.
Names disappear.
Years erase faces.
Yet the stars remain above us,
quietly witnessing everything.
Maybe that is why
I look upward when lost.
Not because the stars
have answers.
But because they remind me:
Something can survive
without staying the same.
And perhaps one day,
when nobody remembers my name,
some distant light
will still be travelling through darkness,
carrying proof
that I was here.
