Ishank Singh, a young boy, from Ranchi, Jharkhand, has set an impressive record by swimming a distance of about 29kms across the Palk Strait in record time. The seven-year-old swam from Sri Lanka’s Talaimannar to Tamil Nadu’s Dhanushkodi, enduring challenging conditions and completing his journey in nine hours and 50 minutes. He completed this feat on April 30 and was recently recognised by Universal Records Forum (URF) as the youngest and fastest swimmer to cover the stretch. Ishank trained several hours a day, building stamina for the swim, which is considered arduous due to the Palk Strait’s strong water currents and several other factors.
