Sophie is a 12-year-old girl who dreams of building planes when she grows up. She is very creative, can do big math sums in her head, and loves reading and solving puzzles. But loud noises and crowded places make her uncomfortable and want to run away.
When the classroom gets too noisy, she takes a break and goes out to sit on the staircase. Sitting on the steps with her legs dangling helps her calm down and control her feelings, making her happier.
Sophie does not eat in school all day as she doesn’t like everyone looking at her. It makes her feel nervous. One day, her classmate Roy goes up to her and asks ‘Sophie, why aren’t you eating?’ Sophie replies ‘because I don’t like it when people look at me while I’m eating’. Roy says ‘I think I have a solution to your problem. Why don’t you build a castle out of books and then you can eat without anyone seeing you’. Sophie listens to Roy and makes a castle out of books and takes a nibble of her food. She realises it’s a good idea because she can eat without anyone seeing her. Ever since that day Sophie and Roy are best friends and do everything together. Sophie eats her lunch everyday now and is very happy at school.
