Vitul Kumar, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1993 batch belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has taken charge as the director general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Kumar replaced Anish Dayal Singh in the post following his retirement and has been assigned to this post temporarily until a permanent replacement is selected. Kumar, who was born in Punjab, has held numerous key roles during his career in the police force. He has served in several capacities including additional director general (ADG) and special director general of the CRPF. He has received the President’s Police Medal (PPM) and several other accolades for his contributions.
