History, what is it? any event that happened in the past or an event which thus happened. Now there are a lot of people who like history, and some who don’t. Now it’s the preference of the people whether they like history or not, but there’s a reason for everything. For example, I love history, and it’s my preference and there’s a reason behind it, which is the fondness of knowing the past. I like to know about events that have occurred in the past. Now that’s about me, but some people don’t like history, and once again it’s their preferences whether they like history or not, but as I also said there’s a reason behind everything, and the most common reason which these people tell you is that history is boring. Now the reason can also be different, but the most common reason is that which I have mentioned.
Now let’s know why history is boring. It is because of the perspectives of the people towards history. When somebody hears the word “history” the first glimpse that comes to mind is “kings and empires” which is exactly the reason why some people hate history, because they think knowing about the kings and queens is boring and not important. But history is not just about kings and queens and empires, but all the events that have occurred in the past, and these events are uncountable which one cannot just define by events like conquering of an empire and the story of emperors.
History consists of all the aspects of social, economic, scientific, technological, medical, cultural, intellectual, religious, and military developments and also political. Independence of India, what is it? “when India got independence from the British” this is the cause of the independence of India, and the partition of India is among the consequences of the event, this is what history teaches us, the causes and consequences behind an event. And not just this, history also teaches us values, now what values? The coronavirus and lockdown of 2020 have also become a part of history, and what do we learn from it? the importance of sanitizing, being with positive people and supporting others. Thus, we gained some value from that event, which means we got values from history.
Just like that, from any historical event we get some value, now If I tell you what we learned from the independence of India, then you will not be able to answer it, but if you look at what happened before the independence, like how we gained independence, then you might be able to answer the question, which is the importance of leadership, unity in diversity and taking responsibility as a citizen. But remember, history teaches us values, but not everything in history teaches us values. History isn’t just about memorizing dates and names. It’s a treasure trove of stories about ordinary people achieving extraordinary things. It’s a testament to human resilience, innovation, and the power of collective action. By learning from the past, we can become the history-makers of tomorrow, shaping a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come. So, get out there and explore history – it’s your story too!
