The Indian women’s junior hockey team secured the Women’s Junior Asia Cup for the second time after emerging victorious against China in the final match of the 2024 tournament on December 15 in Muscat, Oman.
India defeated China 3-2 in the penalty shootout that resulted from a 1-1 tie at the conclusion of regulation time.
Nidhi, the goalkeeper of the Indian side, played a pivotal role in leading India to victory with three important saves. Additionally, Sunelita Toppo, Sakshi Rana and Ishika contributed to India’s triumph by scoring goals during the penalty shootout.
India’s Deepika Sehrawat, who scored 12 goals during the tournament, was the tournament’s highest goalscorer.
