- According to an announcement made by Kerala’s Minister for Sports V Abdurahiman in November, renowned footballer Lionel Messi and the Argentinian football team are set to visit Kerala this year.
- The Argentinian football team, of which the legendary footballer is a part, will play in an international match that will be overseen by the Kerala state government. The event will be financed by local business entities and the government will take charge of its security.
- The last time Argentina’s football team visited India was back in 2011 when the team competed against Venezuela in a match held at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium.
- Abdurahiman stated that the team Argentina would be competing against and the match’s venue would be confirmed at a later stage.
