Once upon a time, there lived a brother and a sister named Raju and Chitti. As the summer holidays began, Chitti diligently completed one homework assignment every day, but Raju neglected his work. When his mother asked him about it, he nonchalantly said, “Ma, just relax, I’ll finish it in the last week.” But he would just go off to play cricket.
The days passed, and soon the last week of summer holidays arrived. Raju found himself with a mountain of work to do. That night, their father surprised them by announcing, “Raju and Chitti, our office is conducting a training program in Goa, and you both can accompany me. I’ll be occupied with work for 5 hours each day, but the rest of the time we can go out and have fun in Goa.”
Raju realized that he hadn’t completed his homework and hesitated. “Dad, but I haven’t completed my homework yet.”
“Alright. I’ll only take your sister to Goa.” He ignored Raju’s sad face and went to his room.
Raju told Chitti, “If I don’t finish my homework, I won’t be able to go to Goa.”
Chitti replied, “Maybe missing out on vacation will help you understand your mistake and learn a lesson from it.”
Moral: Complete your work on time.
