Try to be a Santa

Taniya Kalita, Class 6, The Down Town School, Guwahati

Once upon a time, there lived a man named Rahul. He was very kind hearted and helped the needy people as much as he could.
As we all know, Christmas is coming and we all are excited for it!
But Rahul was not. He was not as excited like before. The reason was that during Christmas the people who are fortunate enough give their loved ones gifts, celebrate Christmas party by inviting friends and families to meals, etc. But what about the people who are not that fortunate? Leave the idea of gifts, who can’t even afford a Pine cake for celebrating! How sad is that. Christmas is not same for everyone. Rahul thought ‘This Christmas, instead of giving gifts to my cousin or eating a pine cake alone, why don’t I go to the people, who deserve a lovely Christmas this time.’ Planning to be a Santa for the unfortunate people. Rahul got excited about trying to be a rainbow in someone’s clouds. Soon, the day arrived. It was Christmas! The clock was striking at 6 pm when Rahul went to his neighbour’s house. He knocked on the door, and an old lady came out with wide-open eyes. The old lady asked him his purpose of coming. Then Rahul asked permission from her that he has come to celebrate Christmas with them together. The old lady was very much surprised and she gave him a sweet smile. He gave new toys to the lovely children in the house, with a yummy pine cake and nice red clothes for the adults. The children were giggling and playing with toys happily. The adults were also very happy with the love and care of Rahul. They all said Thank you to Rahul. Rahul enjoyed dinner with them. At last he parted good bye to all with a warm smile. He went back to his house and shared everything with his family. Rahul’s mom and dad encouraged him to carry on such societal help as much as he can.
Therefore, this Christmas, try to be a Santa for someone.
Who knows, by simply giving a card to someone and wishing them a Merry Christmas they might get a smile on their face.
Merry Christmas everyone! Don’t forget to be a Santa this time!
