To enhance scientific research across various domains, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three PARAM Rudra supercomputers set up at Delhi, Kolkata and Pune on September 26.
These supercomputers, costing nearly `130 crore, have been built as part of the National Supercomputing Mission. They have been installed at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre in New Delhi, the SN Bose Centre in Kolkata and the Giant Metre Radio Telescope in Pune.
These domestically built supercomputers will be used to conduct research in various fields including cosmology and material science.
In addition to the supercomputers, Modi also launched a high-performance computing (HPC) system, focussed on gathering important climate and weather-related data.
