Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh was appointed as the chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF) by the Indian government. Singh assumed his new role on September 30, succeeding Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, who retired. He previously served as the vice chief of the IAF since 2023 and has over four decades of experience. The 59-year-old has also served as the air officer commanding-in-chief of the Central Air Command and been part of the Eastern Air Command. Singh, who is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Pune, and the National Defence College, New Delhi, became part of the IAF in 1984.
