Oceanographers from Schmidt Ocean Institute, USA, have discovered an enormous underwater mountain that is almost four times the height of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. The newly-discovered underwater mountain is 3,109mts in height and is situated in the Pacific Ocean off Chile’s coast. According to oceanographers, the underwater mountain, which is also taller than Greece’s Mount Olympus, belongs to a mountain range that supports several unique marine species. Oceanographers made this discovery with the help of sonar technology. This discovery underscores the necessity of mapping the unchartered areas of the ocean floor to gain more information about their topography and explore the ocean’s resources.
