To boost China’s transition to clean energy, the country has built a dual-tower solar thermal plant in the Gansu Province. This structure has two towers measuring 200mts in height and is the first dual-tower solar thermal plant in the world. In other plants, coal is used to transform water into steam, however, this plant uses solar energy for the process. The plant also has 30,000 mirrors that move according to the sun’s position and reflect sunlight on the towers. The towers of the plant contain molten salt, which is among its most important features. The excess heat absorbed by the molten salt during the daytime is let out at night, which enables the production of power throughout the day.
