Underwater images and videos taken by citizen scientists show that octo-puses have been making use of glass bottles, plastic, cans, batteries and other garbage on the ocean floor as shelter. Researchers revealed that octopuses used a lot more glass than other types of waste. This could be because the texture of glass resembles that of a seashell. As waste products have become an alternative to these creatures, their dependence on these products is of concern to scientists. This is because some waste products could be harmful and could cause physical damage as well.Â
