The most powerful magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine in the world has produced its first images of the human brain, which researchers believe will provide vital information on the functioning of the complex organ.
Called Iseult, this machine is situated in Plateau de Saclay in France. The precision of the images captured by it is around 10 times more than that of common MRI machines.
With a magnetic field of 11.7 teslas, this machine is capable of capturing extremely detailed images including images of blood vessels.
As Iseult has the ability to reveal details of the brain that have never been seen before, it can be used to study conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and depression.
