The Worcester Public Library in Massachusetts, USA, introduced a programme called the ‘March Meowness’ programme that allowed library borrowers to pay off outstanding library fines with drawings or photographs of cats or other animals throughout March. The initiative aimed at solving the problem of accumulated fines for books that were damaged or lost. Through this programme, the library encouraged people to continue availing of the library’s services by reducing restrictions on library borrowers who were unable to pay their outstanding fines.
