The Kerala government has introduced a ‘water-bell’ system in the state’s schools to encourage students to drink sufficient water during the hot summer season. As per the plan, students receive a five-minute break at 10.30am and 2.30pm, when a bell rings. This initiative was started in Kerala’s schools on February 20 and aims to urge students to stay hydrated and healthy during the summer season. Kerala had introduced this plan for the first time in 2019 in a few areas and other states including Karnataka implemented it too.
