Artificial Intelligence: Is It a Friend or Foe?

In today’s fast-changing world, new technology is being introduced almost every day and one of these new developments is AI or artificial intelligence. It is the intelligence that is created by humans using computers.

AI works when a creator feeds it data. Then AI manages to make out patterns and predict the answer. Some examples of AI are Google Bard and ChatGPT.

People think AI will help humans carry out their day-to-day activities in an easier way. But do you think that AI will always help humans? I don’t think so. There are chances that in the future, AI will control humans. So, let’s consider some good and bad points of AI.

  • What’s good about it: AI can make our lives easy if we know how to use it. We use it in our everyday life and I think maybe a few of us might be using it all the time. Back to the point, when AI came, it helped a lot of people with their homework, office work and many other works. But do you know that AI can be used in deep-sea exploration, mining, outer space exploration and carrying out complex surgeries? AI can be used in bomb-detecting missions, tracking criminals and in the army. Right now, AI is already being used in the army in the form of missile drones.

  • What’s bad about it: Some people think that AI will take over the world. When AI started being used, many companies removed their workers and replaced them with AI. Workers lost their jobs.

There are some jobs that AI cannot take over—these are specialised jobs such as those of doctors, nurses, businesspeople (who have already developed their business from the beginning), chefs and lastly, entertainers and artists. To sum up I would say that it’s up to us how to use AI for our benefit rather than letting AI take over and control us.
