A group of astronomers has found solid evidence of the possibility of two planets sharing the same orbit around their star in the Centaurus constellation, 370 light years from Earth. The star known as PDS 70 is being orbited by two planets named PDS 70b and PDS 70c, which were already known to astronomers. However, after observing the PDS 70 system with the help of a telescope in Chile, they found a cloud of debris in the same orbit as PDS 70b, which is thrice the size of Jupiter. They believe this debris could either be a planet that has already formed or a planet that is in the process of forming. According to astronomers, it is extremely rare for planets to share the same orbit. Further observations will be made in 2026 to track the two objects and confirm the discovery.
