A robot named ANDI, which can walk, sweat, breathe and shiver, has been developed by US organisation, Thermetrics. ANDI has been designed to simulate the human body’s thermal functions and will help scientists at Arizona State University, USA, study the effects of extreme temperatures on the human body. The robot has 35 temperature sensors that are controlled independently and pores similar to those of humans through which it perspires. Scientists can use ANDI to devise cooling garments and come up with other innovations that will help prevent heat strokes in humans and deaths due to extreme heat.
