Building a Crime-free World

On the occasion of World Day for International Justice, celebrated every year on July 17, SCARLETT RODRIGUES asked RobinAgers what superpowers they want and how they would use their superpowers to make the world a better place. Here are their inspiring responses.

I love Marvel movies in which superheroes use their superpowers to destroy the evil plans of villains and save the world. I always wished I had a superpower myself. Given a choice, I would like to have the superpower of telepathy and mind control. With these powers, I would know what criminals are thinking about. I would control their mind and capture the criminals. I would use my powers to protect people in danger and prevent crime.

I would like to have the superpowers of flight and invisibility. I would use my superpowers to support the police and help them catch criminals. I would transport all the criminals to a remote location. I would also help the homeless build houses. I would provide medical supplies to people with poor healthcare facilities in their area. If I came across anyone who was being tortured, I would fly to their rescue and take them to a safe place. I would also deliver ‘thank you’ notes to people who display acts of bravery and save lives, such as soldiers.

There are growing incidents of people being attacked by stray dogs. In one incident, an 11-year-old mute boy was killed by a pack of stray dogs in Kerala. In another incident that occurred last year, a 12-year-old girl died of rabies after being bitten by a stray dog. Many other people have been attacked by stray dogs too. According to the law, stray dogs are supposed to be protected. But in that case, what justice are the victims receiving? We have to come up with a solution to this problem. I want to create a city that is free of waste and garbage. This would keep the number of stray dogs in check.

I would like to have the superpower of teleportation. This would enable me to travel from one place to another with ease. I would build a rescue home for stray dogs with proper rules and regulations. I would ensure that all the dogs are provided with food and proper medical facilities. My superpower would enable me to transport stray dogs to the rescue home easily. I would also encourage people to adopt these dogs once they are treated. In this way, the streets would be free of dogs.

If I could have a superpower, I would like to have the superpower of invisibility. I would use this superpower to eliminate crime and injustice in the world. There is so much crime prevalent in the world today including robberies, cybercrime and bribery. I would use my superpower to figure out all the sinister plans of thieves and other criminals. I would use my power to track down these anti-social elements and ruin their evil plans. The power of invisibility would also help me visit multiple places such as government offices and factories to see that the authorities are carrying out their duties responsibly and no one is being exploited or ill-treated. I would make sure everyone is treated fairly.

I would like to have the superpower of mind reading. Understanding people’s perspectives by reading their minds would help me resolve conflicts and misunderstandings. I would also like to possess the super-power of superhuman strength. Social inequality has led to poverty and starvation in many places. It is one of the worst problems the world is facing. Imagine not having food, which is a basic necessity of life. I would use my super-human strength to transport farm products to all those who are starving. I would use my superpowers to eliminate corrupt practices, protect people and care for them. In this way, I would make the world a better place.
