This global day of endangered species was founded by David Robinson in 2006 and has continued ever since. Its celebrated on every third Friday of May.

Many people around the world participate in Endangered Species Day by celebrating, educating each other and taking action to protect the endangered species so that these beautiful creatures don’t get extinct.

So, what is the meaning of Endangered Species? Well you came to the right place at the right time, it means animals are in danger because of humans. They have been killed to that extent that there is a tremendously low count left.

Now, talking about the different sorts of species on land, water and air. On land, Red Panda, Black Rhino, Asiatic lion, Bengal tiger, Banteng, Central Kashmir vole Lion-tailed Macaque and the list goes on. In water, Blue whale, Hawksbill Turtle and talking about critically endangered birds Red Headed Vulture, Forest Owlet, Spoon Billed Sandpiper, Bengal Florican, White Bellied Heron, Himalayan Quail, Sociable Lapwing and Siberian Crane. The list of animals and other species is too long.

Several species in India are endangered or critically endangered because of poaching, loss of habitat, pollution, and other reasons. These animals are endangered because of us and if we don’t stop killing them soon most of them would become extinct!

The alarming numbers of these animals which are left should make every one think twice about preserving wildlife and our ecosystem.

Measures to be strictly followed by a every citizen should be, avoid hunting and poaching, Controlling pollution, Limiting the amount of plastic and recycling it can save the endangered animals, Pesticides and chemicals which cause damage to the environment and indirectly to the animals should be avoided and Planting more trees. Law should be followed strictly.

Concluding this we should protect all the species because it could possibly affect other species in the food chain. We younger generation should teach and educate more and more people around us for this cause. Our earth is beautiful with these creatures around.

Animals contribute to our planets biodiversity and we can’t let species vanish off so easily.

Love animals!!!
