Mira Murati has been appointed as the chief technology officer (CTO) at OpenAI, the American artificial intelligence (AI) research company that developed ChatGPT, a chatbot that was launched in November 2022. Murati was born and raised in San Francisco, California, USA. She joined OpenAI in 2018 and worked as vice president of applied AI and partnerships and senior vice president of research, product and partnerships before assuming her current role. Murati completed her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Dartmouth College, USA. She worked with companies such as Tesla and Leap Motion before joining OpenAI.
