On February 18, Ramesh Bais was sworn in as the governor of Maharashtra. Bais has previously served as the 10th governor of Jharkhand and the governor of Tripura. Bais completed his higher secondary education in Bhopal and then went on to study agriculture. His political career commenced when he was elected to the municipal corporation of Raipur in 1978. In 1989, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time and served as minister of state (independent charge) for mines and environment and forests in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government.
