The first indigenous automatic train control and supervision system (i-ATS) of India was launched on the Red Line of the Delhi Metro that runs from Rithala to Shaheed Sthal on February 18. Manoj Joshi, the secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, launched the system from the Operations Control Centre in Shastri Park, Delhi. The system was developed by Bharat Electronics Limited and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation under the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and will reduce India’s dependence on foreign vendors for similar technologies.
