7-year-old Petitions for Reusable Bottles in Parliament

A seven-year-old boy named Callum Isted has approached the Scottish Parliament with a petition to reduce the use of single-use plastics in Scottish schools.

April 16, 2022

When a seven-year-old boy named Callum Isted noticed that a lot of single-use plastic bottles were being disposed after use at his school, he raised £1,405 by walking 216kms from one Scottish coast to another in order to buy reusable bottles for all the students at his school. He later realised that the generation of plastic waste is a problem faced by all schools around Scotland. In order to address this concern, he started a petition asking the government of Scotland to supply students with reusable metal water bottles and also fix broken taps in schools. He is the youngest person in history to present a petition before the Scottish Parliament.
