A team of archaeologists in London has uncovered the largest area of a Roman mosaic found in the last 50 years. The decorated floor features large panels, colourful flowers, geometric patterns and elaborate motifs known as ‘guilloche’. It is believed that the highly decorated floor could be of a Roman dining room. The Museum of London Archaeology found this excavation during construction work in Southwark, London. According to a Roman mosaic expert, the design belongs to the Acanthus group, a team of mosaic artists from London who developed their own unique local style.
