A five-year-old boy from Punjab named Teghbir Singh created history by becoming the youngest Asian to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. Mount Kilimanjaro, which stands at a height of 5,895mts, is among the world’s most popular mountaineering destinations. Teghbir began his journey on August 18 and encountered numerous difficulties during his climb including extremely low temperatures and low oxygen levels. He was accompanied by his father and made it to Mount Kilimanjaro’s highest point, Uhuru Peak, on August 23. Teghbir commenced preparations for his journey more than a year ago and was trained by Bikramjit Singh Ghuman, a retired handball coach.
