

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) celebrated the 150th year of its establishment on January 15.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) celebrated the 150th year of its establishment on January 15. The organisation launched numerous initiatives to improve climate-related predictions and services to mark the occasion. The initiatives introduced include the National Framework of Climate Services (NFCS), which will improve the production and application of climate-related data and services for crucial areas such as energy, agriculture, disaster preparedness and public health. The NFCS also aims to enhance coordination and information exchange bet-ween climate services stakeholders. Add-itionally, ‘Mausam’, the organisation’s mobile application, the Panchayat Mausam Seva and the Weather Analysis and Forecast Enabling System (WAFES), a decision support system, were launched by the organisation on its anniversary.
