A 101-year-old French yoga teacher named Charlotte Chopin was awarded the Padma Shri by Indian President Droupadi Murmu for challenging age-limit norms and her remarkable contributions to the field of yoga. She was presented with the award during a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on May 9. Chopin, who lives in Lere, France, learnt yoga after the age of 50. She began teaching yoga in 1982 and was instrumental in popularising the practice across France. She has been playing a significant role in advocating yoga as a fitness practice in the country for more than 40 years and continues to work as a yoga instructor.
