China has decided to allow non-Chinese mountaineers to ascend Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, via the Tibet route for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from a tourist visa for China, foreign mountaineers will require a separate visa for Tibet, a semi-autonomous area, to access Mount Everest via the route.
Renewable energy firm Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) became the first firm in India to have a renewable energy capacity of 10,000 MW after it operationalised 2,000 MW of solar capacity at the Khavda Solar Park in Kutch, Gujarat. AGEL is in the process of constructing the largest renewable energy plant in the world at Khavda to attain the company’s goal of reaching 45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
A developer named Mufeed VH from Kerala has developed an open-source artificial intelligence (AI) software engineer named Devika, which is similar to Devin, the world’s first AI software engineer created by a US-based company called Cognition. Devika has many features and is capable of understanding instructions by humans, simplifying them into easy steps, carrying out research and producing the required code.
According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2024, Mumbai has beaten China’s Beijing to become the billionaire capital of Asia. With 92 billionaires and a total billionaire wealth of $445 billion, Mumbai surpassed Beijing whose billionaire wealth stands at $265 billion.
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic broke Swiss player Roger Federer’s record to become the oldest male player to be ranked number one in the history of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings. Djokovic achieved this feat on April 7 when he turned 36 years and 321 days old.
