Global warming is a slow and steady rise in the Earth’s average surface temperature. There are many causes of global warming, but its main cause are; Human Beings.
Scientists say that the average temperature of the Earth has increased than it was 150 years ago. Also, they say that it will increase more depending upon the present circumstances and practices of human beings. Most noticeable changes by this increase in temperature is the melting of ice caps all around the world and melting of glaciers in the Himalayas which is causing the rise in sea level.
As a prediction many cities are soon to be partially submerged in the oceans. Consequently, many parts of the world have an increase in temperature. Among the Greenhouse Gases, the concentration and increase of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere appears to be the main cause of global warming, as predicted by Svante Arrhenius a hundred years ago, confirming the work of Joseph Fourier more than 200 years ago. When people use fossil fuels like coal and oil, this adds Carbon Dioxide in the air.
When people cut down many trees (Deforestation), this means less Carbon Dioxide is taken out of the atmosphere by those plants. Kyoto Protocol tries to reduce pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. Most governments have agreed to it. Some people in government think nothing is going to be changed. The gas produced by cow’s digestion also causes global warming, because it contains Methane which is a greenhouse gas. If we want to change something then we need to think about it, work for it and lastly achieve it. We all have to come together and think of a solution and then apply it to make a change in the average temperature of the surface of the Earth and stop the global warming.
