WINNERS | Group A

Amaan Ahmed, Class 1, Indian School Al Seeb, Oman

Amaan Ahmed, a six-year-old child prodigy, assistive technology advocate, motivational speaker and academic achiever, is redefining what it means to overcome barriers. Despite being visually impaired, he has succeeded at a traditional CBSE school, demonstrating that determination, intelligence and the correct support system can help one overcome obstacles.

Amaan’s accomplishments have always inspired him to reach higher, and they have taught him an important lesson—if he works tirelessly to improve, success will come automatically. His life has been fraught with difficulties, first as a two-time retinoblastoma (eye cancer) survivor and then as he navigated the need for advanced learning methods to integrate into a traditional school.

Amaan has shown amazing determination by mastering touch typing, screen readers and shortcut keys, allowing him to flourish academically despite being print-challenged (unable to see written words and pictures in books). Through hard work and perseverance, he has developed exceptional spelling, numeracy and higher-order thinking skills. His enthusiasm for learning goes beyond standard means—he listens to audiobooks, plays audio games and has acquired abilities that many people learn much later in life.

Amaan is thrilled to be the youngest (at age four) to use a laptop in a mainstream school. His outstanding achievements in both academics and extracurricular activities have defied stereotypes, altered attitudes and demonstrated that being visually impaired is not a restriction.

Determined to share this message beyond his classroom, Amaan turned to social media. His YouTube channel (@WonderBoy_Amaan), which is only two months old, has already garnered an incredibly enthusiastic response. The video of his recent inspiring speech received terrific feedback and he intends to create additional videos to educate, motivate and advise others. Furthermore, Amaan and his mother individually assist parents with visually impaired children, providing support and direction as they navigate the hurdles of education and accessibility.

Amaan’s endurance, intelligence and tenacity make him a remarkable role model and his impact extends far beyond his individual accomplishments, inspiring a generation to believe that no task is insurmountable.

Shaurya Damle, Class 2, KHS Primary, Pune

At just six years old, Shaurya Damle has accomplished something few people can dream of—completing the Everest Base Camp trek. This extraordinary effort, crossing 130kms in 14 days at an elevation of 17,600ft, demonstrates Shaurya’s unwavering determination, perseverance and adventurous attitude.

Even experienced trekkers consider the trek to Everest Base Camp one of the most difficult high-altitude journeys. Nonetheless, Shaurya approached the trip with excitement, courage and an amazing attitude. Along with his father, Sanskar Damle, he faced low oxygen levels, frigid temperatures and unpredictable weather, exhibiting incredible endurance and mental strength.

Aside from the physical difficulty, Shaurya’s trip was one of growth, learning and inspiration. Shaurya’s ability to find joy in the tiniest of moments–the companionship of fellow trekkers, the spectacular Himalayan views and the discipline of each step–demonstrates a maturity beyond his age. Sanskar Damle recounts, “The journey was about pushing beyond limits and creating memories filled with resilience, adventure and the pure joy of shared moments.”

Shaurya’s success has inspired those around him to recognise the limitless potential of young minds, proving that age is not a barrier to excellence. His journey serves as a reminder that true strength is defined by a willingness to go beyond boundaries and embrace life’s greatest adventures.

WINNERS | Group B

Vedveer Sharma, Class 5, Next School, Mulund, Mumbai

10-year-old Vedveer’s achievements have resulted from the ability to identify real-world issues, develop effective solutions and motivate collective action. His Save the Soil movement stemmed from a deep knowledge of environmental issues. Recognising that most soil conservation strategies were designed for rural environments, he modified his approach to accommodate urban habitats. He made the issue more accessible and actionable by simplifying procedures such as composting, minimising pesticide use and encouraging greenery in urban dwellings.

Students from Kashmir Thank Vedveer

His campaign reached 26 housing societies and 14 corporate offices and banks; Inditrade Capital even used his poster on World Environment Day. What began as an idea grew into a movement supported by towns, organisations and individuals, demonstrating that the smallest of initiatives can ignite meaningful change.

His book drive for Army Goodwill Schools is another initiative that demonstrated his capacity to translate awareness into action. During a visit to Kashmir, he noticed a dearth of supplies in rural schools and decided to open three drop-off centres in Mumbai. What began as a basic book collection drive quickly expanded into a large-scale endeavour, resulting in the collection of close to 300kgs of books and instructional resources. With more donations came new challenges—sorting through books, arranging transportation and ensuring the materials reached the needy. Rather than being deterred, Vedveer problem-solved, coordinated volunteers and worked with army staff to ensure smooth delivery. His dedication and adaptability helped him turn an idea into a life-changing project for youngsters in need.

Vedveer’s work demonstrates that leadership is not determined by age but by vision, commitment and readiness to act. His ability to organise communities, overcome hurdles and make a lasting impact distinguishes him as a young changemaker.

Veeaan Gupta, Class 5, Pathways School, Gurugram

At only 10 years of age, Veeaan has displayed extraordinary versatility, originality and determination in a variety of fields including robotics, swimming, drumming, environmental innovation and even cookery, demonstrating that curiosity and enthusiasm can propel brilliance.

One of his most impressive accomplishments was finishing first at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Regionals in Delhi and qualifying for the Nationals in Ahmedabad. Robotics has helped him improve his problem-solving abilities, embrace cooperation and motivate others to pursue STEM learning. His ability to think imaginatively and apply technology to real-world situations demonstrates his progressive mentality.

His drive for innovation also led him to win the EcoInnovators Ideathon, where his team finished in the top 10 out of 1,535 teams from across India. Competing against older teams, he demonstrated that age is no barrier to making a significant difference. Furthermore, his work on environmental sustainability has inspired young minds.

Veeaan is also a state-level swimmer and won a silver medal at the district level. His swimming accomplishments have taught him discipline, resilience and the value of consistency.

Outside of academics and sports, he expresses himself through music. His first drumming concert was not just a personal achievement, but also a showcase of his abilities to focus, organise and perform under pressure.

When he’s not developing, competing or performing, Veeaan enjoys cooking since it allows him to experiment with flavours and cook for his family.

WINNERS | Group C

Mitansh Bagga, Class 7, Learning Paths School, Mohali

Mitansh is an inventor, a problem solver and a changemaker who is actively creating the future rather than merely dreaming about it.

His interest in invention began at a young age. While others were playing games, he was busy designing, developing and exploring. While still in class 5, he created a Wearable Sign Language Translator to help the hearing-impaired communicate more effectively. In class 6, he created a homemade computer within a real computer using Pictoblox software. Now in class 7, he is working on a unique AI-powered smartwatch that will not be a luxury item, but an affordable, life-enhancing device—a true wearable AI-powered sixth sense.

To make his ideas a reality, he self-taught himself ESP32, NodeMCU, Arduino, KiCad PCB design and machine learning. In addition to the smartwatch he is developing, he has also created a Smart Nest home automation system and a carbon tracker to promote sustainability.

Apart from his innovations, he has exposed his friends to AI, PCB design and coding, making technology more accessible to those who previously had little interest.

His journey hasn’t been easy. From locating low-cost components to teaching himself PCB design from scratch and deciphering the complexity of AI, he has suffered setbacks that have made him want to quit. But, instead of giving up, he persisted, demonstrating that innovation isn’t about having all the answers, but rather about unwavering curiosity, perseverance and the willingness to fail and try again.

RK Varna, Class 8, Doha College, Qatar

Varna has shown an unwavering commitment to raising awareness, promoting inclusivity and empowering others via storytelling, community service and academic performance.

Her book, ‘Me, Myself & I’, uses storytelling to illustrate the issues that people with vitiligo experience. This work delves into topics of self-acceptance and inclusion, shining a light on how society’s judgement can lead to anxiety and melancholy.

Inspired by the feedback she received for her book, Varna launched awareness programmes to educate people about vitiligo, decrease stigma and encourage understanding, contributing to the development of a world in which differences are celebrated rather than hidden.

Beyond literature, Varna has taken on the issue of providing financial literacy instruction to poor women and children through Kshamata and the Sakthi Foundation. Recognising women’s lack of financial understanding, Varna devised seminars on budgeting, saving, health insurance and national financial systems to provide them with the tools they need to secure their future.

Varna also launched the Positivity Jar, a simple yet effective project that encourages individuals to collect and treasure pleasant memories, developing appreciation and emotional resilience.

Varna has also won a silver medal in the UKMT problem-solving competition and a gold medal in the Hi-Lingua English Language competition, demonstrating strong analytical thinking and communication skills.

What truly distinguishes Varna is her capacity to turn problems into opportunities—not only for personal development, but also for the betterment of others.

WINNERS | Group D

Armaan Maheshwary, Class 10, Learning Paths School, Mohali

One of Armaan’s most pioneering achievements was the development of Care-Full, a 100% biodegradable sanitary pad with an integrated disposal bag. This innovation not only provides a safe and environmentally beneficial alternative for users, but it also protects the dignity of waste workers, who frequently have to separate hazardous waste with their bare hands. The name Care-Full expresses a fundamental belief—we cannot be careless in our responsibility to the environment and future generations.

Armaan has always sought out experiences that foster creativity and problem-solving. Whether through school projects or individual endeavours, these experiences have developed a mindset that welcomes problems and seeks long-term answers.

Over the last two years, a thorough grasp of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has strengthened his determination to incorporate sustainability into daily living. However, the road was not without challenges. As a male addressing menstrual health, Armaan had to break through societal taboos and uncomfortable silences in order to ask the proper questions and fully understand the needs of consumers. Developing the initial prototype also presented challenges— sourcing raw materials was tough because most vendors only accepted bulk orders. Through unwavering perseverance and problem-solving, Armaan was able to create a ready-to-use biodegradable pad. Industry experts and leading universities have already recognised the project’s impact, demonstrating that real change begins with bold ideas, determination and a refusal to accept limitations.

Samaira Khanduja, Class 10, Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls High School, Mumbai

Samaira is dedicated to writing, music and creative advocacy, demonstrating that more than just an extracurricular activity, the arts are a powerful and significant career path.

At school, Samaira formed the first student-led English Creative Writing Club and organised the first student-led assembly, making a lasting impression by encouraging younger pupils to explore creative expression. Even after Samaira passed on the club’s leadership, fellow students continue to seek her writing advice, demonstrating Samaira’s ability to provide mentorship.

Also a published author, Samaira has self-published two volumes in the Pandora trilogy, ‘Unboxed’ and ‘Unexplored’, which combine Greek mythology with modern storytelling. Samaira has a prominent literary presence, having been featured in various anthologies, writing an eBook in 2021 and receiving several writing honours, including an honourable mention in the RobinAge Bright Sparks Awards 2023. She has also excelled in competitions such as the International English Olympiad and India Spelling Bee, highlighting her extraordinary linguistic and analytical skills.

Aside from writing, Samaira actively promotes the arts online, using the @bubblegumpoparts social media account to teach audiences about art history and creative expression.

Music is another love she harbours, with two years of vocal instruction under her belt. She is currently studying for her Grade 2 Popular Vocals exams. She also performs as a singer and keyboardist in a school band.

At an age where artistic pursuits are sometimes discouraged and stress is given to academic excellence, Samaira is determined to demonstrate that a career in the arts is not just attainable, but necessary.
