Saplings Planted Using Miyawaki Method

News

The Trichy Corporation and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, recently launched a campaign called Forest in the City for which they cleared 1.25 acres of land belonging to the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple and planted 10,000 saplings there using the Miyawaki method. The planted saplings include pungai, mahogany, guava and mango plants. They also plan to construct walking tracks through the saplings so residents can walk through the urban forest. The fertiliser used for the saplings will be produced from the manure accumulated at micro compost centres and cow dung sourced from the temple.
